Lancs Lad
Out shooting friday........................bloke turns up..... What you doing.............. Shooting for my farmer I said.............. Well its my land says the guy..............advised that been on it for about a year and shooting for my bloke.. Unfortunately we have a no shooting policy he said........... Tried all the hints and tips, but had to call it quits.....as the birds were comming in............gutted.. Went down to his farm......had a good chat for about 15 mins,,,advised that due to location of the field he was concered about the potential of people getting hurt....ist across the road from houses....and is a bit close...but safe shots into other fields. Always been careful and never put anyone at risk etc. Spoke about insurance.....buying shooting rights etc etc but it was a no go.............he said that he only allowed a couple of people on for shooting foxes when and if required............ Told him I was thinking about putting in for my fac and if I did, could I put him down as a "permission"...........No problem he said.. So when one door closes.........another one opens........just have to get the fac now.............
starlight32
Not that easy these days mate with all the new criteria you have to meet and the conditions they can impose on you for the first 5 years good luck though What new criteria? I haven't heard of any new additions to the already over loaded system!
starlight32
Try haveing to be accompanied for one they can put special conditions on your licence for the first 5 years or untill they deem you competent You Just do the practical firearms course run by all the farming colleges. I was unaware anyone was having any special conditions placed upon them though.

My mate had the condition that he must be accompanied for at least 3 stalks even though he had been shooting for years and has shot reds in Scotland with a borrowed gun and has DSC 1. Strangely though he can go out and shoot foxes with with the same gun unaccompanied ? I dont see how that works ?? Leeboy
