Guest rabgoat
I use the DEBEN TRACER MAX PRO with the red filter, works on rabbits,it.s the dimmer switch that does the trick, you can just put enough light on to see the eyes then when ready to shoot wind it up,can't find a fox recently to try it on. tulkyuk
you'd be better off spending a little more cash and go and buy yourself a light force 140 rifle mounted lamp - even on a .22 rimfire its worth the extra.
Axe
The Deben lamps are great, light weight and tough and give a very good beam. I run the Max Pro on the airifle as well as my rimfire. Its all you'll ever need at this level. You could look at the Tracer but I woul strongly reconmend the Max Pro.
Dunkield
If you are using even very good filters (not scratched) you need a fairly pokey lamp It is worth testing one out with filters in the dark before committing to buying. I have a dual bulb Cluson, and that is great for rimfire distances and would be fine for centrefire distances, but not with a filter on. As tulkyuk says though, if in doubt get a Lightforce.
