al4x
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/sussex/6946654.stm You rarely see a piece of journalism quite as uninformed as this but it does highlight some issues. We've had dogs for years and I've seen hundreds of pups docked with scisors my dads a vet BTW Mostly only a day or so old and have not seen it as described on there particularly by the vet who if he's had issues like that shoudn't have been doing it. new to the flock
That is a vet that has been well paid by someone. I have been around puppies being docked and having dew claws removed....raised German Shorthaired Pointers for years.......If that vet was correct than My Vet and myself must have been doing it wrong for a long time as we always cut between the 4th and 5th joint of the tail so that no bones were never touched. With comments like that people will be thinking that dogs have one long bone in their tail. A comment like that should have him up infront of the Veterinary Medical Board of Inquireies to see just how he performs his daily practices, as that comment allows for misgiving into his proceedures. As far as I am concerned it is time that all of these tree hugging, do gooder, animal rights ...scum got off their high horses , took a bath, and focused their efforts to something that needs their attention....say like feeding the starving children of the world. Leave the rearing of and health of the animals to those that actually know what they are talking about and doing. NTTF
russuk
Grandad always did his with a pair of scissors. Nothing at all wrong with it if done properly. What also gets my goat is.. Ms Holland said each charge carried a maximum sentence of up to 51 weeks in prison or a £20,000 fine. While your average smack dealing paedophile get's community service! I think I'll write a letter to the Daily Mail
al4x
theres not a lot else to do them with a decent pair and you'd class surgical ones as scissors makes the best job, when they are young enough they are so easy to cut. frightning that prison could be an option and I believe this is why most vets won't dock tails as it had looked like it would be a vet that got the test case brought against them. It will be disgusting if she gets sent down for it on a load of untruths
