Poacher
as far as i know they are all constructed from the same parts, however some are assembled in hungary to reduce costs.
moses
Hello there, As far as I know, they are both made with exactly the same components but, one is assembled in Germany, the other in Hungary. I looked at both when I bought mine and there is no visible difference. As you mentioned the German may hold their value better but, the Hungarian are about £100 cheaper for the same specification (this is attribuited to cost of labour). I asked the guys in the shop which they reccomend and they all said Hungarian as you were simply paying the extra to have "made in Germany" written on it. I would say for both that, in good condition you would expect to get back around 3/4 of what you paid for it. I went for the Hungarian 8x56 and paid £395, well worth it in my opinion. Moses. Dunkield
I have owned 3 S&B's and they were all Hungarian, as the others have said optically they are indentical just assembled in different countries. The only isse I can see with the German version is the resale value is so high, people will, and do, say they can get a new Hungarian for the same money so they are quite hard to sell on. IMHO the 8x56 30mm is one of the brightest fixed power scopes there are There is a German 8x56 in the for sale section which is still available if you are looking for one.
