Tonyc
I have been offered a 3 year old labrador/ springer cross as a gundog - I have sucessfully trained springers from pups but not an older dog - after 3 days he is walking to heel on a lead and sitting on command. Anyone got any hints to progress him and what should I be looking at timewise (I do not expect much this season) Tonyc

new to the flock
Be sure to get all of your control work done first and formost. Sit to voice , and whistle, aswell as to just you stopping. Heel on and off lead. Recall , starting on lead progressing to off lead. Quartering at your desired distance. Then you can worry about introducing to birds and gun. Dont be scarred to start with load noises around him now.....food bowls banged together, two pices of wood banged together, a hammer hitting a board etc. Good Luck, and ask any specifics you need help with.
