Houseplant
Finally scratched the subsonic centrefire itch with the availability of Hornady Sub-X rounds (I don't reload). Went for 300BLK. I was considering 45/70, but had my reasons for going down this route. Will be used as a sub-50 metre bush rifle, mainly for goats. The setup also ticks a couple of other boxes. Takedown rifle and short overall gun length. If it doesn't work out, I'll switch to supersonic rounds. - Bergara BA13 300BLK 16.5 inch barrel - Leupold VX-3i 1.5-5x20mm - DPT Mini Over barrel .30cal My first experience of subsonic centrefire. Louder than expected (!), but couldn't be heard from a 15 minute walk away. Rounds seemed quite dirty and smokey. Bipod was used just for zeroing. Typical group, squares are one inch in size. Could probably do better if I tried harder. Less than an inch difference in point of impact at 10, 25 and 50 metres, so good to go! \ Edited August 9, 2020 by Houseplant
sam triple
Nice 👍, I’m guessing it falls within the new laws out there , from what u can make out it’s a bit messy regarding new laws etc
Houseplant
Thanks. It's well within the law, but that wasn't an issue. I primarily wanted a short rifle. The alternative would have been a bolt action. It's semi-autos that have been banned, but I'm not keen on those anyway. sam triple
I knew some had been banned , but wasn’t quite sure as to what apart from AR type guns ,
Houseplant
That's pretty much it, but no rifle/magazine can hold more than 10 rounds. It's been an issue with rifles that are non-semi auto and have a fixed magazine that can take more than 10 rounds.
