Down South
I'm about to get a .22 lr barrel for my quad. I already have a .17 hmr. I want to get a good mid range scope that allows me to change barrels without having to remove the scope. I know Burris make a specific scope but I don't think its powerful enough. I would like something around 4-16x40 (max). It needs to focus from 20-150 yards. However, if any body is shooting those ranges with a fixed scope I'd like to know. Is parallex a problem? Thanks. DS. Dirty Harry
DS, I have the same with a Simmons WTC 6.5-20x50. I am not sure of the brand of mounts but I can get the barel off without removing the scope. I think it depends more on the mounts rather then scope as to it you can get the barrel off. Scope only cost £50 from the states. Harry
Dave-G
Most of the modern sidewheel scopes are short enough to leave room for the barrel to lift out below it if you use high mounts. they are typically little more than 13" long. I currently have an elite 4200 6-24x50 on mine but may well go back to the 3200 10x40 one I also have. That is untill Bushnell get their laser rangefinding ones sorted out sufficiently to get people talking about them.
