WeihrauchPower
With the recent demise of the New Haven Winchester factory i've decided it's time to pick up what is undoubtedly one of the famous guns they have ever produced the lever action. I looked over a few second hand ones (which were nice) when i was handed one of these brand new Marlins in .30-30. It seemed very good quality, stainless steel and with really high quality checkering. It was a side ejector unlike the Winchesters, which were all top ejectors. I'm wondering if anyone has had an experience with this company and lever actions they produce. I've always been led to believe they make guns with plastic parts etc? Here is the model: http://www.marlinfirearms.com/Firearms/xlr/308MXLR.aspx
mr smith
I have a Marlin 1894 in .44mag.Mine is a fairly old one but fires and cycles absolutely in probs. In fact they are better with a little mileage on them, runs them in.Haven't found any plastic so far and i doubt any plastic could of much use in this style of action. However always willing to be put right on things. The side eject allows easy scope fixing to the top of the reciever. mr_colt
Providing your willing to homeload it would seem a good choice. The cost of factory .30-30 ammo is obscene in my experience. mr_colt.
Graham M
I have the little 39a .22rf and it is a very well made rifle with the action machined out of a solid billet of steel and not a casting. The Marlin semi-auto’s do have plastic trigger guards etc, but the underlevers are all steel. G.M.
cartridge
Is that legal?.I know self loading and pump action rifles are illegal ,other than .22rf of course.

WeihrauchPower
Well i've just received a nice tax rebate and headed straight to the gun shop. I've put down a deposit on the Marlin and should get my permit to aquire in a week. I'm not in the good books with the missus though but she'll get over it. Ammo is pretty cheap at $15 a box so roughly £6. I'll post some pics when i collect her.
mr_colt
Sorry, must have overlooked the fact you don't live in the UK  Everything shooting related is expensive here. Can't wait to finish my degree and disapear off to NZ. mr_colt.
