wymberley
I haven't a clue - just an embryonic idea. Has anyone tried anything similar and had any success? The NM1 XL is really a centrefire torch but does have an infinitely variable brightness control along with a good flood lit area. I'm toying with the idea of mounting the torch on a tripod - which could be easily moved from one location to another as required with the idea of providing some ambient light just sufficient to shoot by. There are already various low powered lights in the barn complex, but not just where I need them. I need not use the XL but have yet to see how my other torches perform floodwise. We're not talking any real range - just sneaky with the Alecto which is fitted with a Primary Arms Micro Red dot sight and I'll be well away from the light source. Ultrastu
How about flood lighting with an infra red torch .then using nv the whole area looks like daylight ?

That would work. The first time I switched on the nv beside the solar panel array I jumped out of my skin not realising that they had blanket IR security lights/cameras. I have a lamp which has an IR lens option and would do nicely and although I have nv and thermal spotters, I no longer have a nv scope. Needs some thought. wymberley
Had to knock this on the head as it's been taken over by the fact that there's now jackdaws making a mess on the feed and roosting in the barn roof. Optics Warehouse on the ball as usual; ordered a Pard at 10:26 and it arrived the next day (Thursday) at 07:50. Just one little problem though; on Friday the barn roof went somewhere else.
