jayscott
Is there any restrictions about acces to farms due to the foot and mouth scare? went past a farm up here in aberdeenshire today and there was a notice stating that any persons coming on to the land must call the farmer so appropriate precations can be taken. Is this the case anywhere else? i haven't seen it at any other farms and its a long way from where the out break happened. Thanks, Jay
ROBLATCH
as far as i am aware the only restriction are those within the restriction zones but not 100% on this one.i know up here where i live there are no restrictions at all.(i hope it stays this way aswell). chunk
Hants are in the higher risk zone(acording to BBC website). My mate runs a farm and has restrictions;no unecessary traffic. Another farm i shoot has said stay away until it blows over. These are farms with big herds. Another farm i shoot regularly with a few sheep but mostly arable has said carry on as normal. Confusing really. I`ll be glad to see the back of it. A lot of folks are posting up about trips out, so its not affecting everyone.
catroofel
i go beating in west sussex and hampshire and no one seems that worried not a foot dip in sight, although i think it is in the backs of peoples minds
sandersj89
If you are near the outbreaks and within the 3km protection zone then foot paths are closed and shooting would not be encouraged by the landowners as acess is restricted. Once outside the protection zone things are a little better buit animal movements are restricted. The surveillance zones extents 200km form the centre of the outbreak. utside that things are looking OK, movement restrictions have been relaxed, indeed livestock markets started again today. Scotland is well outside so should be fine to be honest. But...if the farmer says no then I agree with him, he is only protecting his livelihood and I am sure in the back of his mind is how the last outbreak spread across the whole country in a matter of weeks. Oly
I'm staying away from all my shoots since the outbreak. :yp: I know it's a little OTT but I would hate to be implicated in the transmission to one of my farms livelihoods . Although I am very frustrated as I havent been out in ages I personally feel it's worth it. Leave it another month or so and it should be all over .
