steve_b_wales
I've just purchased (via Screwfix) the above pillar drill for basic DIY. It didn't come with a vice/clamp. I purchased one from Ebay, but it's too big.(100mm)Has anyone got this pillar drill, and if so, what clamp did they buy? Thanks.
johnphilip
I have had a drill like that for about 20 years served me well . I just one of these and hand hold it never bothered to clap it to the drill press
steve_b_wales
I bought similar, but it was too wide to allow it to be bolted down. It was 100mm/4" wide. I've now sent it back for a refund, less postage, and have ordered a 50mm/2" wide one instead. Hopefully this will be okay. There's nothing in the instruction leaflet that says what size to buy. If this isn't suitable, then I'll hold it like you've said. I don't intend doing precision drilling anyway. johnphilip
Hope you get sorted Steve, I have also used mine with some large round sanding disc's , by altering the speed .via the pullies . Make sure you set the stand up square . So it drills through things plum . Will see if I can find you a little video , I used an old knitting needle . johnphilip
All I did was to bend the knitting needle one end up and one end down say about and inch each side . Then place it in the chuck as in the video . I keep it by the drill press to check it from time to time
steve_b_wales
UPDATE: I bought another vice/clamp via Amazon, and this time, it fits perfectly. All I need to do now is to change the supplied nuts & bolts to 'butterfly' ones, to make it easier to tighten/untighten. This is the one I purchased: KATSU 2.5" SP10008008 Edited August 27, 2022 by steve_b_wales
johnphilip
That should do a treat , clamp the job down , saves it grabbing and wrapping your knuckles .

steve_b_wales
Just now, johnphilip said: Great stuff Pleased for you . Thanks John. I did purchase some extra long bolts and wing nuts to replace the ones that came with the drill.
