I could choose to work say 8-5 plus Friday, then likely overtime on a Saturday, or work unsociable hours and get 20% plus shift allowance, and I know what the hours are when I apply, If things change and the new arrangements don't suit you then you change jobs. Nobody applying for a job in nursing, police or fire expects to be working Mon- Fri. As for royal mail, they are private now, but the unions still have the public sector mentality, let them thrash it out, royal mail are just digging their own demise. This is the unions trying to bring about the fall of a government, a democratically elected government. Spot on, I've worked in union shops, and most aren't there anymore. We got a good pay deal over two years and it was negotiated by the unions, but you don't have to be in these days. There are good deals being offered, but the unions want more, because it's not about the workers. Royal mail, are a joke and need to move with the times.
