Sussex Countryman Posted October 31, 2007 Report Share Posted October 31, 2007 Extract taken from the LACS website: Posted: 15 November 2004 As the Hunting Bill returns to Parliament this week with expectations that a total ban will once again be passed overwhelmingly by MPs, Annette Crosbie, president of the League Against Cruel Sports, denounced the House of Lords for attempting to defy the will of the elected chamber and the majority of the public. Ms Crosbie said: "The House of Lords has turned the Hunting Bill into a Keep Hunting Bill. The League is confident that MPs will do what is right. It has taken far too long, but the barbarity of hunting with dogs will soon be banned." Echoing Ms Crosbie's confidence, the actress's former One Foot In The Grave co-star Richard Wilson said: "Hunting with hounds has always been a cruel and heartless excuse for a sport and soon the countryside will no longer have to suffer the indignity of being linked to such an atrocity." Wilson is one of many celebrities who have sent supportive messages to League for its 80th anniversary, celebrating the imminent ban on hunting. Other celebs include Working for Wildlife (1) patron Bill Oddie, comics Jo Brand and David Baddiel, journalist Lauren Booth, poet Benjamin Zephaniah, Shauna Lowry, Julian Clary and Melanie C.
