SxS single trigger help

Recommended Posts

Hello all, I was hoping that I could tap into the combined pigeonwatch knowledge to try and fix an issue I'm having with my AYA Matador. It has started firing both barrels at the same time. It has a selectable single trigger and the problem seems to occur when it is set to fire the right barrel first.

Initially I thought it was probably a worn sear or something but upon taking it apart and having a look at how it works I think it's the trigger mechanism itself causing it.

The barrel selector button moves the pin connected to the rocker via the thin wire and the rocker is pulled either left or right when the trigger is pulled. Only that the rocker seems to push on the wrong sear on occasion or pushes both simultaneously and I can't figure out why.

Any ideas?

Where to start ! This is based on the American Miller Trigger system .

Taking that the sears are engaging correctly and that the pulls are sufficiently heavy .Then check >

1 Loose stock or plate pins .

2 Dirt , only needs a little to cause problems .

3 Loose worn axel and pins/screws are tight

4 the wire spring may be loose or has lost tension .

5 Rough edges on sear ends or the pendulum ( the bit that moves side to side )

6 There is sufficient clearance between the sear ends .

7 that the change over button is working correctly

8 The trigger is coming fully forward after it has been pulled .

When you have eliminated all of these you can then start looking for other causes !
