deeksofdoom
Night terror in dogs…. Or at least from googling I think that’s what it’s called. I have to German Pointers a 7 year old GSP and a 7month old GWP. The older dogs attacks my younger pup in the middle of the night or day, it must be something she does when she has a dream. It only lasts a second but sounds horrific…. Although it doesn’t seem to affect the younger dog because when I rush out to the scene of the crime she bounds out happy out to see me as if nothing has happened . There doesn’t seem to be any bites. The older dog doing the aggression is the most gentle dog going, really placid and always good, great with children etc… I have seen the older dog doing this to a previous kennel mate, who was elderly and I thought it was a dominance thing because the older dog was quite sick before I had to put her down. Thought it was a dominance thing that the younger dog saw the older dog being unwell and wanted to dominate her, or that if the older dog had a fit the younger dog got frightened with her behaviour and lashed out. anyways… any ideas what I could do here? scarecrow243
if you have not seen it happen it could be the younger one that is causing the older one too warn it off try to capture them on camera to see who starts it

There’s no way she could get the better of the older dog. Edited April 19 by deeksofdoom
scarecrow243
i would set the trail cam up as i said the older dog may be giving the young one a telling off for annoying her like a mum does with her pups the young one will have a lot more energy
Krico woodcock
It also could be the pup getting a cramp (growing pains) in her sleep, waking up and yelping til she stands up. They can get a big fright, shock from having them, for the about 30 secs or so . Edited April 20 by Krico woodcock
