DutchPigeonHunter
I’ll be over to your country in about two weeks for some pigeon shooting. We’re from the Netherlands. We go to Suffolk, what can we expect? How far are they with harvesting and are there many pigeons about? I hope someone can give us a heads up on what to expect. enfieldspares
Hello. Under UK the shooting of woodpigeons is covered by a General Licence. The old, long missed, days of going out and shooting a pigeon for the pot have long gone. Therefore all shooting of woodpigeon must be done under the terms of "crop protection". Therefore you'll need to either be invited by a farmer to help out with that as lawful control by shooting or go under the invitation of someone who themselves have been invited by a farmer to help out with that by providing people willing to do that. So the first action might be to have contacts you know local to that area ask about.
DutchPigeonHunter
I didn’t know this but I did know one needs permission by a farmer. And ofcourse we don’t come to the UK without making arrangements, in this case thru an outfitter. Remains the question, what is the pigeon situation like? marsh man
I shoot on the Norfolk / Suffolk border and you will have plenty of stubble fields to go on as the harvest is nearer to the end than it is at the start , Yes there are Pigeons about but don't expect very high numbers as there is unlimited feed on many fields , are you bringing your own gear , or is the agent supplying it ? how long are you coming over for ? and where about's in Suffolk are you going ? You can P M me if you wish rather than name names
