Help needed from the Kent posse

Hi, Long winded so bear with me please.

I was speaking to my Dad in Oz tonight who was telling me about the family tree that he has been putting together online over the last god knows how many years. Our family, me included, originally hailed from Kent and whilst updating it the other night, the system he uses online told him that somebody else had been asking the same names as he has already done relating to my Mum's family.

He delved into it and came up with a name and age of the person enquiring and when he looked the Person's family tree had all my Mum's Sisters, her Mum & Dad and an Aunt and Uncle, but nobody else.

My dad is keen to trace this person if only to find out if they are part of the family tree so he can add them and their family into ours. I have a name, age and place to go on.

Can any PW members in the Chatham area PM me so I can find out if they know of this person and then if they do and it is the same one who has been trying to trace my Mum's side of the family pass my contact details on so I can perhaps talk to them and who knows maybe even meet up.

Long shot I know, but for the sake of my Dad's sanity you would be doing me a favour.

Cheers

Hey SS,

Trix here. I've been doing genealogy for a while and most of the systems have a message system in place to get people together. Some of these are pay sites that can be a pain. If you can tell me the site I might be able to figure it out. I am a member of ancestry and I'd be happy to do a look up.

Most people post on more then one site. Has he tried googling this person's name?

Let me know if I can help.

Hi Trix,

I will find out the site etc at the weekend when I speak to my Dad again. He did try inputting the name, location etc in and tried sending an email/pm via which ever system he uses, but it wouldn't go through.

It justy seems weird that neither of us have ever heard of the name, and why would somebody want to take that part of our family tree. We think it maybe just a school kid doing a project or something and somehow found it through inputting various names and getting matches. It would still be nice to know though as it may be a part of the family we don't know about, it does happen even in this day and age.

LB,

I'll PM what little details I have shortly.

Have you tried here?

http://genforum.genealogy.com/surnames/

I used it a few years ago and found my grandfather, my dad was a GI child of WW2 and never knew his dad.

I found him and its a great story if you have a few hours spare :good:

My grandfather turned out to be a bit of a legend too. His uncle was in Alcatraz for robbing banks and he was a moonshine runner, also had a bar fight with Robert Mitchum in Korea.

Good luck in your search, no matter how hard it is and no matter how many dead ends you come across, the results are always worth it.
