jimdfish
make your own magnets using windscreen motors from your local scrapyard. Less than a tenner and an alarm battery does the job just as well :(

sutty
Hello Jimdfish Welcome to the site, As you can see from Deakos post, there have been various whirly gigs made as you suggest, with wiper motors etc. The main drawback for me was getting hold of sprung steel for the arms and controling the speed to suit conditions on the day, not to mention the weight factor, however if you can overcome these obsticles you are certainly right about saving a quid or two. regards Sutty :(
eugene molloy
Mine whirlygigs "wum med" too. It's the Schwartzenegger model, you either get very big muscles or very big goolies after schlepping it a half mile or so. Truss sir, suits you!
