SuperGoose75
On my walk back, from a fruit less morning goose flight a few weeks back. A large mallard decoy caught my eye amongst the flotsam on the marsh. It was squashed up but I took it home with me. I managed to get it pushed out back into shape again. On inspection it turns out to ne a GH oversized Mallard with a motion cup. Now in the process of trying to get the decoy pushed back into shape, I managed to push through the screw that was holding the ''motion cup'' in place. The scew head was rusted and it wouldnt turn for me. I soent part of my lunchtime at work yesterday and bored out the rusted screw and I found there was a small Bolt on the underside. I have put a new bigger screw and washer in place. My question is - How did this originally work? Was there a pole that screwed into the motion cup and what were the elastic string on the legs for? Penelope
The elastic on the legs is just to hold them in place, it has no other function. See below for the motion stake. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/304863520739?_skw=Avery+decoy+motion+stake&itmmeta=01JCDJ7CZ26979NJMKP5J8QDSJ&hash=item46fb4827e3%3Ag%3A6E0AAOSwoCxkJI83&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA8HoV3kP08IDx%2BKZ9MfhVJKm6iOhZc5Yurvwf103Yp7WlCjMtEdbwFIYBE0CocEzB73Vm0EXAvNj%2FDa3uT6b1jCcV5MUnSQ7YtOC%2FSuO2uR2npHyptgq2eVe0WiRDAXNsENmK0gsxOv1Das3ZYD7AOh0jhM3DRxe%2BAY1w4Lj%2BLjFAkhj5zppuvTRmuV8ZbI2HsBb6NfKRelWusDtFy%2FLMZw6CE0Wnr%2B0myACQhiJlKvxg8dP1ZuDBkaawS%2Fks0O1WrRLcaScG7T9y94RZ5xp%2B9ubOe4zlq30S%2Bu6Ecz487bdQHQU8HSzVM3EcefKQ5vaRiw%3D%3D|tkp%3ABFBM1M-dsuNk&var=603869547770
moongeese
The elastic on the legs , is that you can stretch the leg, then fold it into the slit cut next to it, keeps it tidy to carry, folded out of the way, you are missing the stand that it sits on, that lets it give movement when fitted into the cup.
