Hi everyone, especially pigeonbasher oz and Nublue 22 who have helped immensely with this project so far.

I have been asked to repair the above air rifle for a very dear friend, and it's on the point of beating me. The ultimate problem is this air rifle will not cock, well only upside down!

I had to increase the material at the rear of the piston, as over the years it's been worn away by a quite aggressive cocking lever

With the front trigger guard screw in place, It caused the piston to jam as the cocking lever pushed the piston back. Peculiarly, the trigger guard screw didn't appear to affect the piston travel. More investigation revealed the piston was a few thou out of true and after some careful cutting on the lathe, this problem was solved.

When the air rifle was re-fitted to the stock, it cocked a few times, until today when I took it outside for a proper test fire. Once again it refused to cock, After lots more investigating, this thing will only cock upside down, so I'm beginning to think this is a cocking lever problem, and the lever is probably worn out. It is of an articulated type and not a straight, one piece lever.

If you clever Boys and Girls out there have any ideas and in particular, a clever Boy or Girl who also has a cocking lever assembly for a G79 air rifle, I'll be happy to read your comments

Many thanks,

H

Thank you Bruno22rf, I could but I need to show you a photograph of what this cocking lever has done to the underside of the cylinder too. It has cut in quite deeply, so something isn't right 😉. I'll get the photo when I can.

I did consider welding the cocking lever wings but opted to weld the slot of the piston.
