chippy18
Hi all, hoping someone out there may be able to help. My lad was out in my discovery and as normal did not put any petrol in and ran out. I have just been and put a couple of cans in but it just will not start. Just wondering if there is anything that is supposed to be done if they run out. It is a 3.9 v8 model. Cheers.

Make sure you don't kill the battery with the cranking or lights.
chippy18
fIRST is it injection or carb ? find the fule delivery pipe remove it from the carb- injector pump and turn over if fuel comes out it aint blocked from the tank to the carbIf is injection then it should have an electric pump as do some carb versions check the fueses and do the same as above if no fuel comes through is the pump on mechanical pumps you will have to crank it over to get fuel through again no fuel pump knackerd good luck Thanks for that, will try in morning. Is it an easy thing to replace the pump if it has gone. Cheers
lurcherboy
Open the air filter box and add some brake cleaner out of an aerosol in moderation. That will get the motor firing but don't overdo it! You probably have dry lines and once the motor fires it will start a flow. BSA Shaun has made a valid point and this maybe your problem but the added 'fuel' will tell you if the engine is ok then you will know there is no fuel delivery. Does the Discovery have a inertia switch? Seen these get triggered in all sort of situations so worth checking out Chippy. LB
