Ferretboy111
Quick update on My ESS pup- Thought it was about time i posted something on my pups progress, Had a few breakthroughs today with her, firstly she actually swam in the low pond on my shoot today, she has never hated water but has never been out of her depth before untill now, Secondly, i havent really done much dummy work with her atall, mainly because i have been focusing on her hunting ability and gettin her to stop on the whistle. However today i could get her to sit on the whistle, bang the starter pistol, throw the dummy over her head with her still sitting and marking the dummy- then send her for the retrieve, which she picked up in the middle and came running back to me with the return whistle, then again sit whistle and dummy retrieved. Cant do this too often as she gets bored with it, but 2-3 times works wonders for her. So she sits/stops to the whistle, sometimes she drops to the whistle but like most springers im not really bothered whether she sits, drops or whatever as long as she stops Dont want to be fussy with her too much. Ive got walking to the heel, on and off the lead to a T, she doesnt free hunt (Sniffs the ground) whilst in heel untill i tell her too. Also returns to return whistle Now non of these are 100% as you can imagine, which is why im still working on them all to get them first class, some are too my standards. Not moving onto anything else untill these foundations are perfect. Im pleased with her progress, slow and steady wins the race.
