I think first names are fine to use - makes it feel a more friendly place

I personally dont care if my name is used as i could't give a flying **** if the anti's know how i am, as i am proud to be a hunter ( i presume this is what you mean about names bieng used on an open shooting/hunting forum Staurt).

 I like it, that's the way i think too. Biggest problem for someone else using a first name I don't know in a thread is trying to figure out who's talking to who!

If folks don't use their real names in their own posts I'd generally stick to calling them by their site name, probably slipped on that a few times. I find I've an idea now about which members would be ok with it happening and which wouldn't.

If in any doubt, just address them as Oi, you! B)

I believe my wife thinks that "Oi, you" is my name

I'm happy enough with a first name being used, nobody can trace me just with that. Besides, most people on here call me Nick anyway

Just for the record I'm actually Neil, but the forum makes njc look like nic so most people get it wrong

That must be annoying Nigel !
