tuck1
I'm enjoying these. Does it cause any bad glare/damage to the NV when you put the lamp on? What kind of range could you make out, for example, a person skulking about in the darkness Dave?
Dave-G
BB - I was using the HMR - it's much more forgiving towards difficult range estimating in the dark, even with the lamp on, though it was only used on a dim setting. For any potential lampers out there, note how tight the Atom lamp beam is concentated - they now have a much better battery pack, which fits in a pouch on the butt. Tulky - Yip, thanks. We got the hang of filming after a bit of practice and a few adjustments to stabilise the recorder. There's a fair bit of editing to stop it getting tedious waiting to see something happen though. Utube only has so much space for free so we're keeping them brief. Tuck - The vids are recorded using a Digital Ranger night vision monucular. They don't have tubes that burn out and will tolerate bright lights. You would easily find someone skulking within 100 yards. Even when camo'd up the camo looks different to the IR lamp - my hat for example is dark Grey, and human eyes show up - though dimmer than a rabbits.
