Supertetch
Hi, I have had my shotgun certificate for 4 months now and I have been trying to get some land to shoot on. I have taken advice and driven around the local farms in Northumberland in a 20 mile radius from bedlington. So far I have been less than successful. I even left a card at some places with my contact details on. I thought I would try a post on here to find out if anyone has any other means of getting permission. I would like to get permission for pigeon or rabbit shooting with my baikal over and under 12 bore. Don't know if anyone needs any other info. Cheers Andy
Keith
It's tough if all the farms have gone to other shooters. Have you tried NPPC to see if they have any shooting opportunities in Northumberland. Or type farm or farmer and your area into the 192 phone numbers website and then phone every number and then follow up any slightly positive responses with a visit. As you'll see from a previous post, I'm about to pay £200 to get some decent land to shoot over. Good luck.

Cheers Andy The problem you have is that all the land (or just about all the land) that is big enough, woods etc etc for game shooting has syndicates on where you are looking. You have a couple of choices. 1. Look to join a syndicate ranging from £200 - £10,000 that will probably get you game days and pigeons etc etc. 2. Travel further afield, scottish borders (inland) as the density of shooters is less and you might get a chance also try mid country along the A69 for reasons mentioned. Most game shooters will do what you want out of the game season to get shooting all year round.
ShaggyRS6
Get yourself Google Earth on your PC downloaded. This is what I use to hunt out farms in my local area. Ones I never knew existed. Another thing you can try is going through the yellow pages or yell.com and type in Farmers. Call them all. Another tip is to put an add in the local paper advertising your free service. In between doing this keep knocking. It's hard, very hard sometimes, but, it will happen. Once you get one, you will find it easier to pick up more. Good Luck Edited January 9, 2008 by CupramanRR

tulkyuk
It is Hard at first but as Lee above says, once you have one under your belt more will follow and in a few months time, you'll end up with that much you'll wish you hadnt asked them all in the first place Good luck and keep trying - it'll come good in the end
View-2
Interested to see that you are finding it hard to get land to shoot rabbits and pigeons on. North Northumberland ids overrun with rabbits and they are causing a great deal of damage. I Run a countryside management business and would bve intersested to know what area you would like to work in.
