wol the hunter
hi to you all, friend of mine has just had his pet lab put down after catching LAPTOSCAROSIS (probably spelt wrong) anyway we have now found out that he caught it from infected water on one of my small shoots, and as we live in a village word has got around and we now know of another 5 dogs all of which have been in the same lake one man has had 2 springers put down and a bill for 4k. the problem is that 4 owners have all gone to differant vets so my plan is to print some signs up and take them to the lake then contact BASC tomorrow. any advice tar

Cranfield
I would suggest you contact the Environment Agency, they are likely to be more interested than Defra. General Enquiries: 08708 506 506 (Mon-Fri 8-6) Incident hotline: 0800 807060 (Freephone* 24 Hour) (To report an environmental incident)

wy111
Do you mean Leptospirosis , If so it is treatable. See This
dustyfox
You can get Leptospirosis from cattle truths. Your dog should be vacinated againts weils disease Mine is, And I think the environment agency and Defra will just tell you to wash you hands regular and wash them before you eat drink or smoke. I think people should read about these biological hazards before they go out. HSE is a good place to find out these. http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/indg84.pdf
