I have seen a BSA Supersport .22 for sale and thought i would ask you what you thought of them.

I have not been shooting for many years and want to get back into it.

I know the BSA Lightning has exellent reveiws and this is simular, I want to use it mainly for hunting.

Or is a HW85 from Lurcherboy a better option.

Nothing wrong with either of them really neil they will both be good for hunting if in good conditions and if the main spring is still reasonably efficient.

Weirauch Build quality is legendary and the guns normally very reliable and long lived. I have had a couple of 85,s go through my hands in recent years and they were fine guns.

Both are reasonably easy to replace the mainspring and parts are available for each mail order from Chambers

My preference would be for the 85

Supersport! I bought one christmas last year and i can get about 1inch groups at 25 metres with it, and its .22. I bought the gun for £140 and my scope and mounts for £40, and have only had problems with the scope, and that was because i dropped the gun! I have no idea about weihrauch guns, though i have shot my uncles before. It is a HW35 and he can get 1inch groups at 40 metres! Though it is in .177. Its a really old gun (apparently) but still works really well. But personally, i would go for the supersport.

Or, you could spend a little more money and buy a Weirauch HW90, which comes fitted with a gas ram system, so you can keep it cocked with no loss of power.
