Just wondering if it would be possible to construct your own fridge....say a small shed, lined walls and a refrigderator unit, would that do the job??? Thanks...

Yes it would be possible.

Why do you want it?

The product that you put in will govern what type of system you can install.

Don't think you can just strip a fridge down and use that because it will

not have the duty to refrigerate the shed.

Give me some details of size's and what you want it for and I'll let

you know more.

something big enough to hold around 8 red deer hinds....that will be a good enough size...

6ft x 4ft or 8ft x 5ft Somthing along those lines.

You are talking about the the size of a small butchers fridge.

The panels can be bought but they are not cheap.

You may come across a second hand one on ebay but somthing

that size new and running would set you back about a grand.

You can get second hand fridge systems and build it all your self

but it would need conecting up and charging with refrigerant by a

fridge engineer, again not a cheap option.

You have a few options.

1 Buy the parts yourself and build it with the assistance of a fridge man

cost of parts £100 or so to about £500 engineer will charge owt from

£50 to £300 depending what he has to do.

2 Buy a second hand made up cold store for about £500 to £1000.

3 Buy a new cold store for about £1000.

Or

4 Buy a large comercial two door fridge. They would hold between 4,6 maybe 8

at a push but it would be self contained and no other charges would be required.

Cheers taz.

Some of the refrigerated vehicle bodies are demountable.

The farmer on the farm we shoot in Scotland has one. One of the walls slides to reduce the volume of the compartment being refrigerated and thus save energy. He took it of a wagon, but I have no idea as to cost, but it may be worth a look in autotrader.
