henry d
It always amazed me the way a dogs hearing, when "tuned" can pick up the sound of duck wings when mine can`t and how they can also pick them up by sight a split second before me. Even non shooting orientated, our back gate makes the same sound as all the others in the neighbourhood, or so I think, the dogs can ID ours being opened and my wife knows I`m parking the car `cos the dogs are going ballistic. Everyone who owns one can testify to their sense of smell when on game or food ! However the old girl is now getting deaf and a little unsteady on her legs at times and has just phased me out, I had been cooking lunch and when I come through she`s stood by the stairs, which neither are allowed up, intently looking up with a stern expression. " **** someone has got in !" I thought, so I say "Get on then !" and she leaps up the stairs in 3 bounds snarling and barking with the youngster behind her also barking like rotties. I run up after and they are running through the bedrooms, sniffing everything and snarling and barking like good uns. My hearts pounding ready to belt someone in the puss and.......... ........no-one`s there, No person, Not a thing. Only trust them 999/1000...........I`m off to lie down in a dark room while the dogs have a snigger behind my back.

ziplex
While I was at work today my mrs's friends son knocked on the door as he'd been sent around on his moped to pick up some cheese, (over bought at christmas). Bree is only 12 months and gentle as a lamb, meek as they come and not really a barker unless someone comes down the drive but she saw this outline of a figure through the glass with bash hat on and took great exception to it........first time the wife has heard her bark properly, hackles well up etc. I often wander in with a crash helmet on after a ride out on the bike, but she knew instantly it weren't me. After she was told all was well, Scott was let in and well and truly slobbered on! Needless to say she got given a treat and told how 'brave' she was
Country_est
If their sense of smell & sight is so good why oh why do they have to get so close to a pile of **** before they can tell it is ****
