Balaclave
I have brought some powerfull supreme competion cartridges but it says on the bottom of the box not to use in old guns or shotgun with twisted barreles. As i only rent out shotguns at the clay ground i am affraid of using them now. I dont want the barrel to blow and kill me or some innocent by-standers. Any 2 3/4 - so long as barrel is nitro proofed, nitro sleeved etc. 3" magnums or 3.5" super magnums only in barrels proofed for such as the forcing cones & design differ from 2 3/4 nitro barrels. Make sure the carts are 12g (12 bore) - dont let your 20g carts mix with these as they fit (just) & you might get a double load in the barrel - deadly! If in doubt, chat to your local RFD - they're usually bang on with the correct advice. Edited January 19, 2008 by claypop
Floating Chamber
I was there at the birth of this shell in 1992 and have the first box off the track. They are lively but the pressures are OK. They have to be 'fast' because the high antimony pellet is less dense than the standard 2-3% antimony pellet. When I used them regularly, I always compensated for this by 'going up' a shot-size. (i.e 8's for Pro, 7.5 for Supreme.) IMO, no modern cartridge should be fired in twist barrels, just in case!
