neil
You have to be carefull touching in scratches like this as its easy to make it look alot worse than it does allready, if it is very bad the only option is strip the lot and refinish it, other than that you can try a touch up with a fine brush but this rarely looks very good. Vulcha
I read in an airgun magazine that f you put a damp cloth on the scratch/dent and put and iron on the cloth then it lifts the dents and scrathches of the stock
crowstopper
I will give that a go as my BAS lighting has been though the wars a few times crow
neil
The iron works very well if the stock is stripped, if not be carefull, it can affect the existing finish
roblade
if it a walnut stock it is much easier to take out the scratches or dents beech being a vey light colour after the finish s removed is a much harder wood to sort these out on, but if you do have to refinish it there is lots of help out there to be had on how to do this. but i droped my tx200 once and got a rather large dent in it using the damp cloth and iron it too a lot of the damage out though it did leave a little dent but nothing compared to what it was before! Magpies are gay
Is it worth getting a walnut stock then? Apart from it looks nicer, is there any other reason why people get them?
roblade
walnut in some cases can bring the weight of the rifle down by more than 1Lbs! and if it does get damaged it is a lot easier to refinish as there is no staining to be done just a light bit of sanding and french polish kit will take care of it. and if you want to customise the stock it is a much easier job to do on walnut than beech! and yes it does look much nicer than the standard bech stock
Magpies are gay
I have thorght that walnut is lighter that beech, so it will stand out more! Wont this give you away to maggies and crows easily?? Or isnt it that light in colour? Im thinking out getting my new gun is walnut if it isnt.
