remytherussell
Well young man, let me enlighten you. At the end of the shooting season there are very few birds left because most have been shot (hopefully). Come the next year, about this time, the keepers buy in new birds from specialist breeders or they have reared their own from "caught-up" birds. That is, last year,s hen birds are caught and kept in breeding pens to hatch their eggs to produce new birds. Which ever method, the birds are kept penned until the start of the new shooting season and are then gradually released as the season progresses to ensure birds for every shoot day. Hope this answers your question. RTR
jordan
cheers for that i was jsut talking to my dad and teh reason we had so many pheasants on our shooting permission last year was the hig winds smashed the keepers pens so all the birds escaped and ended up here
Lurch
There are a lot of pheasants out of season up round our way. Partly because the shoot put too many down and partly because he had trouble selling Guns this season gone. A lot of roadkill - what a waste!
