Dunkield
I looked into this for all of about 15 seconds, and then spent the money (well the boy did) 50 quid from Amazon at the time - job done
tulkyuk
I was just wondering if its the same as a Wireless dongle you can get from Maplin for £14.99 - its more about not bieng ripped off by Bill Gates than actually spending the cash!!! Tony9r
You can't just use a dongle Tulky... a wireless game router/adapter is what you're after, my lad bought a Linksys off Fleabay for about £15 a while back. D-Link do a good priced one too  Edited January 28, 2008 by Tony9r
Mungler
I have the same question. Any clicky links for what is needed? I have a home wireless ADSL router and an Xbox - that's it and that's the limit of my technical knowledge.

Tony9r
Tony Thanks for that mate. so will a usb wireless network adapter work or does it have to be a gaming adapter No, simply because you would need to install drivers etc onto the console (like you do on a PC) for it to work
jayward
If your lucky and can find a cheap Linksys/ Netgear Wireless-G Game Adapter You will need to register the Adapter onto your local Wireless network , enabling security etc mac locked addresses etc etc ... The way I did it was to allocate the WGE a static IP address in the same range as my router, say for example my Router IP is 10.0.0.1 and is set to allocate IP addresses from 10.0.0.2 - 10.0.0.99, so I set the WGE with 10.0.0.50, set the switch on the WGE to internet mode not adhock. Then Log into your wireless router, allow the device in the wireless access page start up the Xbox and away you go, run the test on the 360 and you should be out on live. TBH there are very few options for a solution to get the 360 wireless for less than £50 and tbh theres little substitute for bills adapter i know this as i member of some well versed forums relating to console we will call it repairing (not hacking) and i repair quite a few 360s and have yet spoken to some one with an alterative solution to the ones above Edited January 28, 2008 by jayward

pin
Buffalo WHR-G125 router (£15), some cat5 cable and the DD-WRT firmware for it. I make it about £16, job done The problem is you can't just use a normal wireless router, the "game" adapters are receivers, something which normal cheap wifi routers can't normally do.
