I use Yuasha(?) 12v 7ah's and they are OK, my lamp has a 50w bulb so they last about 90 mins flat out.

I have about half a dozen so I just pop back to the car and get another if I am out any longer than that.

If I used a bigger battery my lampeteer (stuartp junior) would moan even more than he does already

I've an ASA sealed lead acid rechargeable 18 amp battery. I find it gives good light for two hours, then thirty minutes of quickly running downhill. I try not to use it for more than two and a quarter hours at any time. No battery will last forever. I am hearing good things about the type of battery that go into golf trolleys though, I just can't get my hands on one.

You'll probably need a golf trolley to cart it around though John! Or is that the sneaky excuse!! :D

Not sure what my battery is, but it lasts about 2.5 hrs - 3hrs, so a good evenings lamping...I'll have to try to remember to dig it out and have a look.

hi there all i use a 17 amp hour battery and the best place to get them is from nettos when they get in their 12 volt power staitions for jump starting cars etc

to buy the same type battery 17ah at rs components will cost around 43pounds plus vat

in nettos these unints are only 20 pounds a real bargin ive had mine now for nearly 10 years and still going strong (trick is to charge them at least once a month even if you dont use it

and my lamp has got a 100 watt halogen bulb in it and i get a good 3 hours lamping using it

i also have 2 36amp hour batterys which i believe came off a golf cart or some type of mobility scooter but christ they are heavy not the best thing to lug around with you for a couple of hours but ok if you staying in one place or using on a pigeon magnet i was told they cost a few quid aswell but i always chuck them in the boot of my car for when im sitting in car with lamp saving my car battery as awful hard to bump start a car on a muddy track
