wheat fields

Any time now, a good test is to take a single piece of grain and split it in your finger nail.

If its still milky inside, its not ready

If its floury and firm it is.

If you have had alot of rain, It can delay harvest as wet grain can rot in the trailer/store.

Hope this helps

As an estimate when the heads are all bend right over and when you get a piece of grain between your finger nails if you cant crush it atall then its both dry and ripe or if you want to look like a proper farmer you could try and break the grainin your teath.

Asking the farmer seems a far simpler way of finding out although he probally wont be able to tell you that accurately as it will depend on the weather.
