Right, leading on from my other thread regarding my crippled fronty, i've pretty much decided to get it running well enough and then chop it in for something else.

Im thinking an estate as I could use the space for work and shooting gear, also I reckon the right one will be a lot cheaper to run than my 2L fronty is right now.

Had a quick search online and come up with a T reg Renault Laguna 1.9 dTi RT Sport for 995 quid - could px, any thoughts guys? dont know if I like the sound of 'dTI and Sport' with regards to fuel economy but perhaps im wrong?

Or anyone got any other suggestions? perhaps escort estate etc

Cheers Jim :good:

With money as tight as it is right now (new house and wedding) I'd happily do a straight swap once the fronty is sorted out. Failing that, sell the fronty for around £1200 I reckon and spend the same on an estate.

Dont care how old etc just as economical as poss with enough room for work and shooting gear.

At the end of the day, all it has to do is get me to work and out shooting.

All our 'social' journeys are made in the missus' 07 plate focus so all I really need is a reliable workhorse really.

I'd steer away from the laguns theres a reason they're dirt cheap, the turbo goes every 70K and if you're unlucky takes the engine with it. Gearboxes are also weak, my brother has 3 gearboxes and an engine change in his over 100K plus assorted other problems. Judging by his work colleagues it wasn't unusual the engine was even replaced by renault outside warranty FOC so they know there are issues.

if you're after a cheap estate look for either an old VW or Peugeot or you may even get a focus or mondeo diesel estate for that money
