pigeon master
Hi Turk, Cheers mate, yes I agree she is a great little bitch, she’s my first gundog but she is coming on great. I have been talking to madspringer recently and I think I maybe pushing her a little to much but she is responding very well. I do have loads of time to train her because she was born 15/05/04 so she is only a baby. I have her sitting on command, she walks to my heal with no lead and I tested her walking past some cows the other day and she was great. The best thing she does is go and search on command but she only goes about ten yards out until I call her back, I try to anticipate what she is about to do, and call her in as soon as her nose comes off the floor, I call her back in and she comes like a little gem. I have another dog which is a house pet not a worker but she is very good also, I have amber sit and watch her for a while and take her through the same tasks. Seems to work, but getting info from some of the dog men on the forum is required also because learners like me can go down the wrong path. QUESTION FOR DOGMEN Can you give me list of the regular commands that are used for various tasks you want them to do. I have joined a syndicate for winter so as well as shooting some other game I will also be doing some beating, I have never been on an organized shoot and don’t want to be calling all these weird and wonderful commands out and sound like a lemon. At the moment I just use, Sit to Sit Heal to walk next to me Find to send out and search Dead to drop what ever she has in her mouth and thats about it at the moment. I try to keep to with traditions if possible, I’m not sure if there are any with regards to dog commands. Cheers anyway The PM

millo2
I use 'high lost' when my dog is in the vacinity of shot game, it hypes him up and makes him work harder. Sit to sit lol Stay to stay Over to Jump Get in to enter cover Get back to send him out for a retrieve Down to lie down Leave to drop the game into my hand Oh and rollover Its all a matter of personal preference mate. If it works with your dog, stick with it
