turk101 Posted August 16, 2004 Report Share Posted August 16, 2004 hi folk when i spoke to farmer the other day he siad he was putting winter rape in over the bank holiday weekend.when he does would this b a good time to shoot the field(s). what i mean is do the pigeons tend to hit the field when just planted(excuse the terminolgy)or should i wait a few weeks for the rape to start showing? turk101(mem) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Cranfield Posted August 16, 2004 Report Share Posted August 16, 2004 When the fields are first drilled they can attract the pigeons. However in recent years, I have noticed that deep drilling methods used by some Farmers, means the birds are not on the fields for long. It will be worth checking though. When the crop starts sprouting, it is attractive to pigeons. With the continued sun and rain we are having, look out for sproutings on rape stubble.
