You say that the Pups are ready in 8 weeks when they are born and people can come along and view them. I paid for my dog when he was ready to go, but I know the breeder.

But I think its good if you ask for a deposit to make sure they are going to collect the dog/bitch when they are ready.

EDIT Ahh I just got back from a long hard days working. I say ask for it when the pups are born.

have you got your wires crossed DF - this has nothing to do with the question

Greylag, you should be given the option of 'pick of the litter' or payment when your positive the bitch is pregnant

My cocker is a proven stud dog, I expect to be paid the stud fee after the second mating at which time I hand over a copy of his pedigree and signed kc litter registry papers. If the bitch does not catch(only happened once) then it's a free mating the next time she comes in season.

The FIL had Two Matings to his Bitch and paid approx 50% of the costs each time to the Stud Dog owner.

If the Mating was not successful then he was asked to return again, at a No fee Charge.

I guess if you agreed to having a pup for payment, then you should get pick of the litter....

As polski said but on the first mating & second free unless you know the people & you sort some thing out ie once the pups sold. You also have responsabilaties to the breed ie lab & should have him hip scored/eye tested & possable elbow score to make sure he can do the breed justace but this is really up to the dam's side & they should be looking for this to get the best. The fee can varie from £300 off a OFTW/FTCH to in your case price of a bitch pup what ever there selling them for £350/£400 or a fixed fee of £250.
