Hey Bob,

I think if you close all your explorer windows and then open a new one. Then expand it to the size you want (full size), and when doen, close it.

Now try and open it again, it should open at the last size you closed the last window at (full size)

Hope that help.

Let me know a bit more about which explorer you are using if this doesnt work.

regards,

Bond.....GB

"run in" does not exist, well, it may do, but not where you suggest. Using I.E.7 & XP.

ok so you right click the desktop icon and move down to properties and click, it then opens a small properties window. it should be on the shortcuts tab and amongst the headings down the left you have start in (leave alone), shortcut key (leave alone) and run, (thats the one you want), click the blue arrow for the drop down box click maximised then apply then ok. HTH

Probably simple to you IT lads out there, but where do I change the settings so that sites open maximised? A minor thing, but annoying.

I think the problem here may be that your question has been mis-read.

Are you saying that your browser (Internet Explorer) is maximised (open to full screen) But the web page is too large to fit in the window?

If this is the case you need to change your display settings. If this is not the case ignore the following.

Close all windows.

Right click on any free space on your screen and click properties.

Click settings tab.

Change screen resolution to 1024 by 768.

Click apply. A notice will come up asking if you want to keep the new settings. click yes.

Click OK on "display properties" screen.

Bob,

can you please post some screen shots of the issue step by step if you can

you can take the screen shot of whats displauyed on your screen by pressing "Print Screen" key on your keyboard, then open Paint or something, and paste it (CNTRL-V together ). Then save the image as jpeg file, and attach to your post here.

I think then we will understand fully what yo uare trying to achieve :o

Bob,

I am running the same as you, IE7 and XP and have the same problem. The way I get round it is to open my email account and leave it open all day. When I want to go to a new site I minimise the email tab and use a desktop shortcut to get to the new site. That site then opens in a new tab at full screen.

You can also do it by clicking on the small tab at the end of the browser bar marked with a X that opens a new tab window with nothing it it and you can then use the address bar marked A to enter a new URL.

Hope this helps

I don't have a shortcuts tab, sorry if I'm being thick here, but I have a "General" and a "web document" tab only.

That's what I tend to do, it's just when I start up, it would be nice to go to a maximised window, as I said, it's no big deal.

On IE6 if the first window opened minimised, all you had to do was drag the corners of the window till it was maximised then close the browser then when you opened it again it would stay maximised. But it does not work with IE7 probably to do with the tabbed browsing.

Yep, that is probably why it has been frustrating, it used to be OK when I had IE6! Oh, well, at least I can stop beating the **** out of my PC now, thanks again.

The first widow that opens in IE7 will always open small. There are no settings to make it open maximised.

TC

AHA!! That's what I wanted to hear, well it's not, but it solves the problem, many thanks.

Bob,

Internet Explorer 7 (IE 7) opens the window to the same size as it was closed.

Try the following:

Close all IE windows, then open just one.

In the top right corner you will see 3 boxes. The right hand one will be a red cross. You need to click the middle one. (looks like a square)

This will maximise IE. now if you close IE and open it again it will open maximised.
