Acesandeights
I am in the market for a SBS and in the US it seems most are made somewhere else. There are Turkish, Italian, Spanish, etc., etc., but I see a Webley & Scott 700 that I was told is made by Fausti in Italy. Has anyone seen a "new" W&S 700 and what are you thoughts. I went through the search function of the site and found numerous semi-auto threads, but few sbs threads regarding Webley & Scott.

beatingisbest
leech and sons told me they are now made in turkey!!! To be honest i dont think its good that they are made in Turkey but still have webley and scott on them! Buy an old webley and scott made in birmingham, save yourself some money and get a better made gun out of it too!
Baldrick
If I recall, Hatsan bought the rights to the name 'Webley & Scott'. Personally I would much rather stick to my 'old' Model 700. Or I'd get an AYA.
Acesandeights
Thanks. Doubles don't seem to be the norm in the states, especially the sbs. I'm not sure, but when I called I was told the 700 is an Italian made gun... Hmmm....
Baldrick
If you're based in the USA, why not consider a Ruger Gold Label or a Beretta 471 Silver Hawk?
Acesandeights
I guess you could say I am, but when I saw the W/S side by side I thought I should consider it too. Also, I wouldn't mind having something different. The W/S retail price is similar to the Ruger and Berettas and I was wondering if it was well made. I've been told the W/S 700 is not made in Turkey, but was made in Italy by Fausti for W/S. Honestly I don't want to spend $3000-$4000 on a Turkish side-by-side, but if it's similar to the Ruger or Beretta in quality or function I'd like to have one a little different. Acesandeights
I will likely get an "amazing" deal on a W/S 700 (model 712 or 720). I think I'll choose a 720 and then I can tell you all for certain what they're like. They are made in Italy by the way. The lower priced models are made elsewhere.
