You get your local RFD to handle it. Speak to him, make sure he'll do it and if so you'll need the RFD No that you are sending it to. They'll charge a fee for handling it and just send it via secure courier for you, the chap buying it picks it up from the other side.

 

As simple as walking in and handing it over, you cross off the gun on your cert and the other RFD will write it on the guy who's buying it's cert. Just make sure you tell plod who you sold it to, personally I'd let them know the two RFD's No's and details involved in the transaction as well.

An RFD can arrange direct collection from you.

 

Yes, you can take a gun OFF yourself, you only cannot put guns on yourself. Indeed, while there is an obligation to inform your Fire-arms Office that you have sold an to which RFD, there is actually no requirement in law you write up a sale on your license.
