has anyone done this course.bloody difficult.sorry guys ,its to do with lifting with cranes.:blush::blush:

I do it for a living, 94% fail rate in the industry. I've been an Appointed person since the inception of the positon and training began with a 1/2 day course nearly 15 years ago.

Basically when you take the role you are responsible for any lifting under your control. So if you are asked to do it as part of your position make sure you insist on financial renumeration for such, or refuse to do it point blank.

Also remember if you are the appointed person then when it comes to lifting you call the shots and that includes those above you if you are questioned to do anything outside of good health and safety practice.

I've lost count of the site managers, client employees and just about anyone else i have told where to get off when they have tried to overule the position and responsibilty.

The health and safety executive are awarding jail sentence's as prizes to AP's at the moment when they mess up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

long time ago

I spend most of my day educating (and kicking them off site)the grunts and simpleton contractors on LOLER regs

Jonno

Thats right knock the contractors.

Just remember half the petrochem, power, and utility infastructure would collapse if it was left to client's own employee's on their own to manage their own affairs.

When I go to a job its mainly because the clients themselves can't do it anyway!

I do knock the contractors because they don't follow simple rules and put others at risk. They turn up on site with a contracts manager with a half done RA and method statement and after giving the muppets a site intduction I can gaurantee within an half an hour they are working without ppe they highlighted in there own method statement

These are't even small tin pot contracting companies. Quite the opposite
