MrToad
Just looking for advice on a Hatsan Escort, are they the best of the bunch as far as budget goes ie. the best ones you can get for around the £350 mark? Also iv been looking on Guntrader and some have large recoil pads and others dont, is it the newest ones that have the large recoil pad? Any Info or Advice would be very helpful! BlaserF3
A used Beretta auto is a better buy

robgriff
A used Beretta auto is a better buy :( Every time someone asks a decent question about an Escort, the same old tired answer comes up. We all know a used Beretta is a better gun but try & find a decent one for £350! The question asked for advice not an opinion on better buys. Mr Toad, the new model looks superb value at £325 in my local shop with a 3 year guarantee.
crisis500
That larger pad is called a TRIOPAD i have a semi auto with one. I got mine from Newmarket for around £290. Great gun no problems with jams at all.
MrToad
Cheers robgriff im glad to see someone's on the ball! As i said if i wanted a s/h Beretta i would ask for advice on one! ANYWAY I was in my local RFD this morning and as eye watering as his prices are (£445 s/h ESCORT!!! :( ) i mounted it a dozen times, it was good but not as good as the Franchi he also had , it had a stepped rib, not like a trap one, only by about 5mm and it fitted like a glove. So im now in a sticky situation, do i get a new Escort for £350 ish or try my luck trying to find a second hand Franchi (and that might require some hunting to get a good one for around £400 ) Thanks again Mr T

Mr Toad, the new model looks superb value at £325 in my local shop with a 3 year guarantee. If you are prepared to save up another £150, which nowadays is the going rate for 1000 cartridges you will own a much better gun, which if looked after will last for an awful long time. I suggest you look at s/hand values and see how much you lose, think early Skoda/Lada cars That's' why I will advise anyone who asks about "cheap" shotguns to think again. You get what you pay for in this world and normally the gun is just a small sum of money if you keep it 10 years where as your shooting costs you money every time you pull the trigger. Here you are http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews101802.html There are a few answers on here, the internet is a wonderful tool. robgriff
A fair point Blaser & I agree with you, but no-one can argue that at a little over £300 for the camo version, the Escort makes a great 1st s/a for a beginner. Even if you throw it away after its 3 year guarantee expires, you should have had your monies' worth. I'm a novice shotgunner & looking for a camo s/a for wildfowling & roughshooting (don't want to abuse my o/u!) & after reading the reviews in your link I think my minds made up.........an Escort it is!! I hope in a few years I can afford an Extrema or an Urika but for now it fits the bill. Rob
bobt
I could afford a new Beretta or franchi, but for what I wanted, a knock about gun to hide shoot and kick about the shoot, I took my £275 and bought an escort. had it now 2 years and love it. BlaserF3
If you had stated it was for 'fowling I would not have even replied. :(
