Suffolk shooter
What a great day, started off a bit misty and damp, but as the day went on the weather got better, sun coming out and actually feeling more like spring/early summer. Got there at 9.20 to meet up with Funky and Starlight32 and help set up the stands, BBQ etc. and then sat back waiting for the first person to have a go. Didn't tkae long and soon people were turning up from various other haybale shoots around the counties, (Taz valley, Norfolk, Tollesbury, Essex to name a couple). Did a round in the morning and carded a 21 ex 30 it was the second stand that did me in, first bird a real gimme but the second I just couldn't get my head around. Some of the guys in the game syndicate came all the way from past Sudbury and had a couple of rounds and then about 1.30 MC and Markio turned up. Did a 2nd round and scored a 22 again that 2nd stand, 2nd bird problem, which MC pointed out I was too far in front of and Over the top of. So after a round on the 17 bird auto fun flush and a cup of coffee and slice of homemade cake, we went out for my third their second round. Carded a 25 ex 30 this time straighting the bogey 2nd stand, but mucking the easier 1st and 3rd stand up. Shame really as had I got those other five I would have been in a shoot off with the illustrious Phillip Thorrold. I have to say I have had the pleasure of watching him shoot for quite a few years at various grounds and events, and it never ceases to amaze me just how smooth and unrushed his shooting and swing are even when getting barracked by (IMHO) a complete No-mark. Also Phil was a real sportsman, giving Funky gratis tuition on his round, which did help him out greatly. The event drew an international field with a Russian international, England Ladies international and quite a few various county shots turning up. Phrase of the day had to be the "nobody likes to see that happen", as the England international missed real sitters on all stands, swiftly followed by one of her companions stating "well of course she'll miss them because she percieves them as needing lead" MC's reloading on the auto flush had to be seen to be believed, I believe Markio commented on the Terminator 2 like powers at one stage. Thanks to those guys on here who came and supported the NSW, hope you enjoyed it and hope to see more PW'ers and Essex massive for the next one a bit later on this year. At the end of the day the amount raised on the day was around the £1500 mark before bills, which is a great achievemnt for a haybaler. SS Funky, hurry up and get the photos on here. Markio
I had a very enjoyable shoot this afternoon. Shot with MartinCavie and SuffolkShooter, thanks for a good afternoon guys. 3 stands with decent targets, after two attempts i didn't hit that 2nd bird on stand 1 once! Grrrrrrr. blush.gif The fun flush was...well fun, a great way to end the afternoon. Nice and warm too good.gif Nice to meet you too Startlight32, can't remember your real name sorry. I think i'll call you Phil...or maybe Dave. I'll let you know what i decide. And yeah, top marks to Martins loading technique, one handed...break lever, flick of arm, guns falls open, carts eject into Jamie's face (no matter were he moved) and new carts in. MC
The reloading technique was shown to me a couple af years ago by a mate of mine, we shoot a 50 bird two man flush at Tollesbury as the last shoot of the season and you always need to have 2 shells in your gun, so if you fire at a single then stick one in. As he said to me "You won't hit anything with an empty gun" I really enjoyed the shoot, it was a good set up with fairly easy birds (a bit like Essex) nothing too strenuous. It is quite strange the lengths some people will go to to win a tenner, one guy who I was informed shoots for suffolk must have had 6 - 8 goes on the pool shoot. The No Mark as Jamie puts it was a complete ******** and while he could shoot well he was just a pr**k. People like that IMO just give the rest of us a bad name. I did a 21/30 and a 22/

SS PS the Marquee was a great donation and well used.
