turk101
hI folks Can anyone help? Whats the difference between a sporter & the field version? My brothers just bought one & did'nt realise it was a sporter,do you think it's still usuable for pigeons, rough shooting etc: thanks turk101 mem
Vecomm
A sporter is generally a sporting clays gun. The main difference is in the weight. The field model is usually marginally lighter for lugging about, whilst the sporter has a little more weight to compensate for the repeated recoil of shooting 100+ shots as you might well do at a clay shoot. - if you're a big strong lad it shouldnt be an issue. Also a sporter is likely to be a multichoke so you can spend hours working out which choke to use....:yp: I use a sporter (Ultra XS) for clays pigeons and allsorts
turk101
Thanks vecomm do you find you shoot the same at all disciplines with the gun?
Vecomm
I only shoot the sporting disciplines, English, Compak/Sporttrap - I dont bother with DTL ABT and that sort of stuff Rgds Graham

pigeon master
Turk, tell your mate he has a great gun, the silver pigeon range might not be holland and holland or a purdy but great quality and a joy to shoot. Yes for sure he can use a sporter for clays and pigeon but the game gun is set at 1/4 and 1/2 choke which is great for the pigeons. turk101
Thanks guys PM funny you should mention the chokes been set 1/4 & 1/2 ,he insisted on using 3/4 & full & struggled a bit as i presume you have to be more accurate,i told him to try 1/4 & 1/2 & he started dropping a lot more. so ovverall he loves the gun. thanks again guys turk101 mem
