Is there a safe time to shot squizzers on a tree with the rimmie?

Recommended Posts

hi gram, that is why i asked as i heard they were only 30ftlbs and they shoot terrible.

to be honest i have not tried them but,was told not to bother for the purpose i wanted them for,as he had tried them and they were terrible at distance.better to throw them at your quarry, was my mates answer. :good:

Thats why i feel confident to use them to shoot up trees al, they travel about the same speed as a 22 air rifle, close range stuff, not enough energy in them to riccochet far.

On a sunny day, shooting at targets, you can watch them leave the barrel and hit the target they're so slow.

I wonder if "running man" would have been so concerned if i said i used BBs to shoot up trees, they're nearly the same size as a 22lr head, and faster.

gram 71 did u post that a .22 rimfire will only travel about 100 yards? was this a mistake or miskey on youre part my freind? ive nailed rabbits at 150 yards with a .22 rimfire. and as for 650 fps i think u mean around 11 ft per second mate..........do u own a f.a.c.?

These are CB LONGS, and they're 29gr, 710 fps (feet per second) I don't know what that works out to in FT/Lbs, where did you come up with 11 fps :hmm::good: was that a mistake or a miss key?

There's a gun club in Dorset that recommend you use a rimfire during their rook culling operations on the purbeck coast.

I've been down there and experienced the noise of bullets ricocheting all over the place from copses. I didn't hang around long :good:

Mind you they do have a safety code of practice where they insist that no more than 2 people at a time shoot their guns in the air.

i stand corected all.ive never seen these before! ive shootin since 1988 and vever come across these.many appologies........i still wouldent shoot up into a tree though, knowing my luck someone will get it in the eye!

Not a problem mate, but like you advise, i'm always careful. The owner and neibouring farmer always get a phone call before i go just so they know to stay indoors. This also works the other way as the farmer may be harvesting and has others who shoot his land also, and i can be advised where i can and cannot shoot.

some things can be missed and as i wanted an air rifle(sold my 12flb one to get a hmr at first,so did not own one) to shoot and keep squirrels down,my mate suggested the cb ammo to me,as they give the same sort of power an fac air rifle can give,so makes the 22lr versatlie.

never knew they were about till mate told me.i did think he was winding me up at first, till i checked them out.

i prefer to shoot squirrels between the eyes.. :hmm::good:
