mickeylove
Everyones seen the film where the assasin assembles a rifle out of a briefcase clips a scope on top and hits a target about 2 miles away, but do those `twist and lock' scope mounts exist? Baldrick
Are you referring to swing-off mounts, made by firms such as Apel? They do exist, and they do work for everyday deer stalking (not oo sure if the machining tolerances are good enough for picking off a human at '2 miles' though). The one thing swing-off mounts aren't is cheap though. http://www.red-deer.co.uk/acatalog/Apel_Scope_Mounts.html I've used claw mounts many times on double rifles. Claw mounts have the added advantage that they don't leave the bases behind, when you need to use open sights.
