Ford maverick/Nissan Terrano

Hi all,

I have been offered a 2.7 TD 5 door maverick by a dealer friend who wants some cash. its a Pex he took, is a 1996 and is in immaculate condition with 65k genuine miles on the clock.

Anybody know anything about these oil burners at all. It is a Nissan engine. everything seems very tight and where it should be. It needs a new steering pump but he said he would put it on for me. He wants little money for it compared to Parkers guide.

Thanks guys.

FM.

Dont know too much about these ones, but unless you are looking for one, or its a reeealy good bargin there are not rated too highly as a 4x4. :/ Looked at them when I was looking but wasn't too impressed and they seem to have a high CoG and be a bit skinny with it  .

Just my 2p on a friday afternoon. :)

Not a bad vehicle FM,

running gear still used on present day Terrano's.

Engine is from Nissan commercial range and sounds / acts like it !!!

(noisey & a bit slow on the uptake) but should run for ever with frequent oil changes ... have you got the service history :/?

Good off road .. not bad for comfort .. Jap reliability.

The main reason it never became popular is down to a lack of macho looks.

It don't look like a true 4 x 4, are you bothered ??

Phone up your local Nissan dealer and ask how much to fit a new clutch ..

this will give you an idea of service costs.

65K & immaculate sounds like a school run vehicle .. so check the low ratio box is mechanically ok, .. may never have been used.

Little money :)? .. Buy it mate.

Thanks mate...

It was used 3 times a week on average to do shopping run and carry 5 kids about. The thing has only been off road once apparently when the Female driver took a wrong turn and drove over the local golf course. I doubt if the 4 x 4 drive has been used that much and it has been serviced regularly at the recomended intervals. It has never been used for towing as it has no tow bar!

I think I might take the plunge.

Thanks again.
