Scarpa
I even saw a salesman open a gun, hand it to me, then open it again as I handed it back to put on the rack. It may look like overkill but when you may be handling hundreds of guns a year it makes sense to do this as an automatic response.
Devilishdave
When Adjusting triggers I always addopt the folowing safety chack: Dry cock action apply safety Squeeze trigger release safety give very sharp tap on the butt. At no point should the rifle action function. I guess in this case had you loctited your screws in place it would have prevented the problem. If you know your safety is on the light side then it is worth doing the above check every time you clean it. I had adjusted the trigger on a rmington 700 for a good friend of mine and it was safe and passed the test as described above. He had managed to get the rifle soaked so he striped it down and cleaned it, reoiled and assembled it after that it was slam firing because the box mag was incorrectly fitted and was forcing the sear and bent out of engagement and was nothing to do with the adjusted down trigger. It is alwys worth checking when you clean it. Dave
casts_by_fly
dave, Yeah, the problem was that I didn't loc-tite the screws when I did it. When I did the modification I didn't even think about it. After I did all of the checks (including all of the ones you listed) it was fine so I figured no problem. Don't know how the screw backed out since there is no torque on it ever. Must have just been vibration and handling. Safe now. Thanks Rick
